Miso Garlic Green Beans
Our little organic veggie garden gifts us with an abundance of green beans throughout the summer moths. Some years we have been overrun with them, so I have had to try lots of different ways to eat them. And I think this is my all-time favourite! Its not a Pinterest-pretty dish, but it packs a flavourful punch that will have you reaching for more!
Ingredients
Beans
Green Beans
Olive oil
Miso Garlic Glaze
2 tablespoons miso paste
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon maple syrup
1 teaspoon maple syrup (optional)
Method
There are actually two ways to make these. The Fast Way involves less prep but you will need to keep an eye on the beans when they are in the oven and make sure the miso glaze doesn't burn. The Slower Way involves a couple of extra steps, but you are less likely to end up with burned beans!
The Fast Way
Combine all Miso Garlic Glaze ingredients in a large bowl, mix well until combined and set aside.
Top and tail green beans. Toss in Miso Garlic Glaze.
Place on a baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven for 30-35 minutes, tossing the beans after 20 minutes and keeping an eye on them to make sure they don't burn.
Remove from oven when beans start to blister.
Serve sprinkled with red pepper flakes and enjoy!
The Slower Way
Combine all Miso Garlic Glaze ingredients in a large bowl, mix well until combined and set aside.
Top and tail green beans. Toss in olive oil. Place on a baking tray and bake in a pre-heated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until their skins just start to blister.
Remove from oven. Place beans into the large bowl containing the Miso Garlic Glaze and toss until beans are well covered.
Transfer back to baking tray, place back in oven and cook for another 10 minutes or until beans are starting to blister and crisp.
Serve sprinkled with red pepper flakes and enjoy!
