Mise en place
/Mise en place is a French culinary term, which roughly translates to "everything in its place".
I generally like to go "freestyle" in my day-to-day cooking, but when I'm dreaming up a new recipe and need to be clear on measurements, or when I'm in the kitchen preparing multiple dishes, prepping and organising my ingredients beforehand can be a lifesaver. It makes it easy to see if I have forgotten an ingredient, and it's very handy when you have invited people over for dinner and don't want to spend your whole evening away from all the action chopping and peeling in the kitchen.
I love it because it makes me feel super organised and in control, even when I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing.
And it helps me write up more accurate recipes for you!
Give it a try!
